Review & Swatches: Etude House Look At My Eyes Eyeshadows in BR421, PP509, BR422, and PK008 [PinkBird Box]

Etude House released some new Look At My Eyes eyeshadows for their 2016 S/S Color Flower Lesson collection and they sent me BR421, PP509, BR422, and PK008* to review! BR422 is the darkest of the shades I've received, but all of the shades are light / midtone shades that fit the spring season. I also received the Flower Lesson Empty Eye Shadow Palette* that can fit 4 depotted Look At My Eyes eyeshadows! You can buy all of these products on the global Etude House website here!

The Etude House Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow in BR421* is a satin light brown with an almost mustard yellow tone to it. There is some light golden shimmers running through it, but it's a barely there sheen that's very pretty and wearable. For someone lighter than me, you can get away with it all over the lids and the slight sheen can also give some dimension to your eyes. On me, I like to concentrate it in my crease with a winged liner and it'll be a perfect every day look.

The Etude House Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow in PP509* is a matte pale pastel lavender shade. I'm actually not a fan of white based shades like this color and the next one I'll be talking about. On the eyes, they're workable but only if they're more pigmented like the Etude House Play 101 Pencil in 18 that I used in the look below. With that being said, I like wearing this shade when it's packed onto concentrated areas like the inner corner.

The shadow is more on the sheer side, but I can pack it on with my finger to get more color payoff like below. It does get a bit powdery if I use too much at one time and so I have to take my time to apply it

The Etude House Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow in BR422* is a matte red based medium dark brown shade. Out of these four eyeshadows, BR422 is the most pigmented (maybe due to its tone) and feels a lot smoother. It also blends out the easiest on the lids.

The Etude House Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow in PK008* is a matte pale peach based pink. On my skin tone, the light color and white base makes it show up as a very pale pink. With someone more pale / very fair, it would look great as a blush or an eyeshadow but it falls flat on me. It blends out well, but I have to pack on more than usual for it to even look like it does below.

For someone that is my skin tone, you can still pack it onto the inner corner like PP509 but I wouldn't buy it just for that.

The dreaded color balance and editing noob strikes again! The first arm swatch picture made the darker brown look too orange. The second arm swatch picture looks much closer to life, but I messed up on the PK008 swatch and it didn't show up as well.

There's pros and cons about all of these shades, but my biggest gripe is pigmentation. The past eye shadows I've received had better pigmentation than these (except BR422) and these can be a lot better. They're still blendable and long lasting, but the mattes are more powdery than I would like.

I'm oddly very very excited about the Etude House Flower Lesson Empty Eye Shadow Palette*. I like how the individual shadows are packaged, but I don't always want to bring singles.

Etude House Look At My Eyes singles are pretty easy to depot since you can just slightly peel back the label and there's a small hole to poke the pan through. Unfortunately, the pans are not magnetic and so you'll need to put an adhesive onto the palette to make them stick.

I've bought singles as well as received singles from Etude House and so I'm going to wait a little bit to decide which one will go into this palette. Since it's not easy to move/remove the shadows, I really want to be sure which shadows are my favorite before putting them into this cute empty palette.

Final thoughts: I was underwhelmed by these shadows and this box in general. I did like the skincare and I'm fully ready to commit to full sizes, but the eyeshadows weren't as good as the Strawberry Foundue palette or singles sent to me before. I am really glad to have BR422 and BR421 in my collection though and have been reaching for them a lot when I'm doing more neutral looks. If you're interested in any of these shades, I do very highly recommend BR422 and or/BR421 and maybe PP509 if you want to have a fun accent color.

If you have multiple shadows from Etude House, I would get one of their empty palettes. It is plastic, but it does fell sturdy. I need to get some easy to remove glue or something because I really ant to start using mine to house some of my go to shadows from them.

*These products were sent to me for free as PR samples as part of their Pink Bird Program. As part of their program, I get sent a box of products each month to review. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.
