Review & Swatches: Etude House Snowy Dessert Collection

I'm extremely excited to announce that I am now part of the Etude House Pink Bird Program! In short - they'll be providing me products from their recent collections once a month until next year. I was already a huge fan of Etude House and so I was waiting forever for them to post up that they were looking for new Pink Birds.

This month, I was sent some items from the Etude House Snowy Dessert Collection. This collection includes a blush, contour powder, gel pencils, lip tints, hand creams, eye shadow palettes, and scented wax tablets. All of the items have a dessert theme and they're all adorably packaged like usual!

The items that I received and will be talking about include -
Ginger Cookie Blusher
Play 101 Pencils in #71 and #73
Pudding Tint in PK001 Grapefruit Pudding (#3)

The Ginger Cookie Blusher* is a warm nudey/browny orange blush with peach and gold shimmer. The gingerbread man is mostly orange and the area around it is mostly peachy pink that can be used as a highlight. If you want the blush to show up more orange, just focus it on the gingerbread man. Even though I don't have it, it does kind of remind me of NARS Luster. There is 0.31 ounces / 9 grams of product and retails for $16.80 on the Etude House website.

I don't know why, but I was thinking that this powder would be more matte but you can see from looking at it that there is a sheen. The area above the gingerbread man is not big enough for my face brushes, but you could fit an eye brush to use that more pinky peach color by itself. I like to just use my ELF Complexion Brush to run it over the surface of the whole pan and brush it on my cheeks to warm up my face.

The left swatch is just the outer area and the middle swatch is just the gingerbread man. The right swatch is both of them mixed together.

My skin tone is around a MAC NC35 / Missha M Perfect BB Cream in #27 / Etude House Precious Mineral Bright Fit BB Cream in #3 Honey Beige and so I'm on the very boarder of this blush working on me. Even though the blush might not swatch super pigmented, it mostly didn't show up as well on my skin because of my skin tone.

I thought this blush would be as pigmented as my Arabeques Rosy Blush from the Etude House Dreaming Swan collection, but I'm really happy that it's more on the sheer but buildable side. Orange blushes are beautiful, but they can sometimes be hard to work with.

I wanted to use a gif to show how beautiful this blush looked!

There is a bit of an orangey tan color on my cheeks but there's also a really nice highlight. This blush would work the best on paler skin tones than me, but it would also work on those with medium skin tones.

L - Just Foundation and Brows
R - Added on Eye makeup and Blush

The color works really well for me because it's the most perfect mix of orange and tan / brown. It's almost like a more orange bronzer that just works. I've had orangey blushes before and they would either look chalky or neon.

I'm already in love with the Etude House Play 101 Pencils* and I'm so glad that they continually bring out more colors. The only thing different from the original release is the Snowy Dessert candy cane-esque packaging. I also feel like these two were a bit creamier and less tacky than the ones I've bought before (review here and here). Each pencil contains 0.02 ounces / 0.5 grams of product and retails for $7.80 on the Etude House website.

#71 is a duochrome pencil that has a cool toned pink base with a shimmery gold shift. It reminds me of MAC's Pigment in Rose, but way easier to use.

For the above pictures, I just applied it directly on my eyes and blended it out with my fingers. The golden shift doesn't work that well in the above pictures, but it looks gorgeous in real life. This color would also look great underneath golden pink blushes like NARS Orgasm.

#73 is a shimmery slightly pinky champagne color. The closest eye shadow I have to this color is Tarte's Funny Girl powder eyeshadow from their Tartelette in Bloom palette (also one of my favorite colors from this palette).

Personally, this shade is a bit too light for me all over the lids. It works really well on the center of the lid or on the lower waterline though! It really brightens up my eyes on my waterline and isn't as start as a straight up white or nude shade. It also works really on the cheeks as a highlighter!

Both of these shades felt creamy on the lids, but you have to work quickly since they set pretty fast. There is a slight tackiness after application that doesn't stay too long but I like it since it helps powder eyeshadows stick on my lids better.

I also don't have to wear primer or "set" these pencils with powders since they last all day on me.

The Etude House Pudding Tint in PK001 Grapefruit Pudding* looks like a neon reddy coral in the pot, but can be sheered out to be more pink and grapefruit colored. It even reminds me of MAC See Sheer lipstick, which is also described as a grapefruit color. Most lip tints I've tried are liquidy and are in bottles, but this formula is more creamy and just melts onto your lips. The tint also smells like grapefruit! Each pot contains 0.19 ounces / 5.5 grams and retails for $10.40.

Each pot also comes with a "spoon" applicator.

The texture is pretty viscious and stays in the pot pretty well. It's one of the more unique textured lip products I've ever tried.

Like I said, most tints are liquidy and this packaging made me think it was going to be a tinted balm-esque product like the Korres Lip Butters. The actual product also looked like a lip tar / liquid lipstick. When I touch it to pick up some product, there's this soft matte surface and then becomes thin when rubbed into the lips.

Left - blended out swatch
Right - Applied thickly

It definitely sheers out to be a more wearable color and what I prefer. You could build it up to be neon like in the pot, but it feels a bit thick.

1 - bare lips
2 - one thin layer
3 - two thin layers

The applicator could also keep your fingers untinted, but the heat from your fingers really help the product melt into your lips seamlessly. There was some slight transferring onto straws and cups while I drank water, but it wasn't actually that bad.

The tint also lasted for about 4-5 hours, but that's because I rub my lips a lot. This product didn't dry out my lips and actually felt pretty comfortable.

The below pictures are just some more swatches and full face shots!

1 - Only brows
2 -  #71 on the lid and #73 on the waterline
3 + 4 - The Cookie Blusher applied on the outer half of the lid

The colors worked well together to create a feminine and soft eye look.

As you can see, the Pudding Tint looked more pink on me, but I do have some mauvey red tones in my lips.

The above pictures were taken in natural light.

The above pictures were taken with my OttLite lamp and before I used the Pudding Tint. Sorry!

The rest of the pictures with my OttLite looked kind of bad.

I'm wearing the Grapefruit Pudding Tint on my lips (2 thicker layers compared to the original swatch. The top right picture are my bare lips) and the Play 101 Pencil in #73 on my waterline.

Final Thoughts: Overall, I'm very very happy with all of these products! My favorite was probably the Play 101 Pencils and I was most surprised about the Pudding Tint. I also liked the Cookie Blusher and have used it almost every day since I've gotten it though! It's an easy color / formula to just quickly brush onto my cheeks and go. I would highly recommend any of these products, but I think these products would look better on those with fair to medium skin tones.

What do you think about the Etude House Snowy Dessert collection? Have you picked up anything from this collection?

*These products were sent to me as a PR sample. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.

I was also sent some products from the Honey Cera skin care line that will be going up on Wednesday!
